My turn!

Once Russ got home from his bike ride it was my turn! I did nearly the same ride Russ did, but instead of turning up the steep Fritz road I continued straight on Duck Creek. It was a really nice ride, and had some fun hills and beautiful scenery. I rode about 30 miles and kept a fairly good pace for the first 22 miles (18 mph w/hills). I had to slow down for the last leg, but this once I'll forgive myself since I gave birth a month ago.

I took a few pictures of the scenery, so I'll share.

And if you think Russ is a dork, well...I've got him topped this time. I thought I would take you on part of my ride with me. The video is all over the place, because I was riding one-handed at 27 mph. But I thought it would be amusing. It's also very noisy because there was quite a strong wind. So enjoy, and imagine the wind in your face--not to mention the bugs that splatter on you!

And just a few tid-bits that I've forgotten to include:

**my first postpartum run. I don't know what I was thinking, but I was determined to go. I had worked out several times, and I wanted to RUN! So, despite the fact that a severe thunderstorm was rolling in I went running. The first part of my run wasn't too bad, but then the wind picked up--I'm talking insane wind--tree branches were breaking and falling all over the place. I was, of course, at this point running directly into the wind. Rain was pelting me so hard it was painful, and I couldn't see anything! When I got home I was muddy, soaked, exhausted, and in pain. Welcome back to the wonderful world of running! (I later found out there was a tornado somewhere outside Billings associated with this storm.)

**A few days ago Sydney scratched her head and then looked at me with a very serious face--and in a somber matter-of-fact Sydney style, she looked at me and said, "Mom, I think I have fleas." I kept a very straight face and asked her why she thought that, and she informed me that she was itchy. I told her we could try to get her a flea collar to get rid of them. Then I couldn't keep it up, and laughed. She is such a funny child.

Honestly, Jo, I think it stems from a phone call I had with you. When Skyla got lice, Russ sang a song about fleas while I was on the phone. Sydney just assumed she had the same "condition" when her head was itchy.
