Tonsillectomy

Most of you know that Tara has had problems with her tonsils for quite some time although no doctor would ever tell us to get them removed or even take her to a specialist. Sarah finally forced our pediatrician to give us a referral to an ear/nose/throat specialist and took her in yesterday. The doctor took one look and said they were the largest tonsils she'd ever seen and subsequently scheduled her for surgery this morning. Everything went well and Tara is home now recovering. She was very excited to get her tonsils removed. I don't think she's that excited any more. Fortunately her doctor was really good and got her excited about all the cool things she was going to do and see and even how she would feel without her tonsils.

Tara was still super excited when we got to the doctor's office. She's dressed in her PJs, rubber gloves and a surgical cap. Sarah made her take of the sun glasses in the car.

She can't wait to get those things cut out of her.

Still excited. Not nervous at all. What a trooper!

Not so excited any more. A little groggy too.

But spirits are easily lifted with a fun wagon ride.

Even more so when the doctor showed her the gross tonsils and adenoids she had removed.

Just glad to go home!

Now, I wasn't there through all of this. I took a very jealous Sydney and a tired Evie to the store to buy presents and flowers for Tara. I'm just posting now to let you all know Tara is home and doing well. Sarah will probably fill you in with more details later. Something about the tonsils being enormous but the adenoids were even worse. The surgeon called them her "nemesis" and that they were so big they were growing "tentacles" up her nasal canal making it hard for Tara to breathe. I'm so glad she finally got them taken out!
