pjs quilt

I was going through some piles of fabric and I found flannel scraps leftover from pajamas I've made for the girls, a few quilts and baby blankets, burp-cloths, and even a robe I made for Russ (the dark green). They were strange prints--mostly juvenile, and there wasn't enough left of each to do anything useful. So I decided to make an ugly scrap quilt. It turned out pretty bizarre, but the girls love it, and I got rid of some of some scraps. (I still have enough scraps to make another one of these, but I'll save that for a little later.) I was surprised that even though it's kind of ugly the girls love it, because they know where each scrap of fabric came from. They especially love wearing the nightgowns with the matching scraps.
Because it was nothing special I decided to play around with some free-motion quilting in the borders. It was fun, and actually turned out.
The girls chose the fabric for the border and backing out of my stash. They insisted that I post a picture of the back as well.
I took the pictures before washing it, but once it is washed it will soften up and shrink a little, giving it 'fluff' as the girls say.

The quilt will be a family heirloom with lots of memories tucked inside.
