Grand Targhee & Jackson Hole

Last Wednesday we packed up and drove to Grand Targhee--a Ski resort in the Tetons. It was fabulous. We had never been there and it is such a gorgeous place! Even in April there was so much snow! Sydney and Tara had the time of their lives playing in snow at roof-top heights. Russ had an "Uncommon sense" seminar/convention, where he spent most of his time in classes. The girls and I played outside, watched cartoons, read stories, etc. We actually got stuck in the resort the first day, because there was too much snow and we only had a two-wheel drive. Fortunately the next day we were able to drive to Driggs, ID and escape our winter wonderland for a few hours and have lunch.

Russ got to ski one afternoon, and although he hadn't been in years I think he had fun. He even has a few battle-wounds to show for it!

After Spending a few days at Grand Targhee, Russ' parents drove out and met us. The girls and I then joined them for a trip to Jackson Hole, WY. We went to the Elk Refuge, where we took a wagon ride around and looked at the elk. We also saw coyotes, wolves, and big horn sheep.

For those of you from the area, you know that it is impossible to pass through Swan Valley without getting square ice cream cones! We then stayed the night with Russ' family, and the girls were spoiled rotten. They couldn't have been more pleased!

On the drive back to Montana the weather was beautiful, so we drove through West Yellowstone and Big Sky. We saw three moose, so it was worth it. I should also mention that on the drive out, we went through Ennis, MT, and saw the largest herd of elk! There were thousands! Elk were on both sides of the road for at least a mile. We later found out that the herd is estimated as large as nine-thousand head.

So now we are back home trying to recover from our exciting, yet exhausting trip.
