So, I hope your Easter weekend went great. Let me tell you about ours.
We started off by doing some yard work Saturday morning to prepare the back yard for Sunday's Easter egg hunt. Surprisingly our lawn is really green, even after being covered in snow several days ago. As I finished, we hurried and got ready for the community egg hunt in the park across the street from our house. The girls had fun, especially with their new Easter baskets. Sydney found a method for collecting eggs, follow the line that the Easter bunny dropped the eggs in. She made a killing since all of the other kids just took off running while she followed the egg trail.

Immediately following the egg hunt, we went home to decorate our eggs. They had fun although they kept breaking the eggs because they were coloring too hard with the crayons. However, the unbroken eggs still turned out pretty nice.

After decorating eggs, I had to run off to stake conference meetings so that was the end of the Easter celebrations for the day (as far as I know). We did have some good Easter talks at conference though.
It worked out really well that we had Stake Conference this weekend too. I didn't have to wake up insanely early (for me) to go to Bishopric meeting and conference started an hour later than our 9 o'clock sacrament meeting so we got to spend a little time before church to dig through the Easter baskets. The girls were really excited and wanted to go find the eggs that the Easter Bunny left but we had the girls wait until after church. That was fine since they were anxious to try on the new dresses that Sarah made for them. Yep, she made them and did a great job too. They even had matching purses. Sarah's dreading next year when she has to make three Easter dresses.

I tried to get a picture with Sarah and the girls or the whole family but Sarah refuses to have pictures taken while she's preg-onormic. (Don't worry, she laughed when she saw this)
We had a great Stake Conference although the girls got restless towards the end. The 1st Councilor in the Stake Presidency spoke about having 4 kids under the age of 6 and how he and his wife felt that they were wasting their time going to church since they couldn't get much out of the meetings. He urged parents of young children to hang in there and people without the problem to be understanding of us. I think he was speaking to me as Tara was climbing all over me, hitting me in the face and then trying to kiss it better. It felt good that he understood.
After church we came home and had lunch. The girls were so excited to find the Easter Eggs that they couldn't eat. While they were changing out of their Easter dresses, I (err...the Easter Bunny) ran into the back yard to spread out the eggs. Our kitchen looks out onto the back yard and the entire time we were eating, Sarah and I kept drawing attention to the back yard but the girls never saw the eggs. They kept asking when the Easter Bunny was going to come and hide the eggs and Sarah and I kept telling them that the Easter Bunny came last night and wasn't coming back and that he must have already hid the eggs, probably outside. (We weren't able to hide the eggs outside last year due to 6 inches of snow.) Anyway, after many hints, Sarah and I were ready to bang our heads on the walls with frustration when Tara finally saw the eggs outside. They could hardly contain themselves and started bouncing off the walls as evidenced in the video.

After the egg hunt, we opened up all the eggs to discover all the treasures the Easter Bunny had left. As Tara opened the last egg, she looked up with eyes wide open and exclaimed in her deepest voice "EAT CANDY!" It was hilarious. You probably had to be there. Sarah and I were rolling on the floor. That's our Tara. Anyway, that is exactly what she did all day long until we finally took the candy away and hid it. She's been bouncing off the walls most of the day.
Tomorrow we'll have our special Easter family home evening. I know, a little late but better late than never. But now I've got to go eat Sarah's homemade cherry cheese cake. Yum!
Oh, and I can't forget my Easter present. While we were gone last weekend I lost one of my favorite fish, my Laetacara curviceps, so Sarah let me go out and get four of these guys called Keyhole cichlids. Yep, I'm a dork but you already knew that.
HAPPY EASTER!
