National Scout Service Day

This past Saturday was National Scout Service Day.  I took the Boy Scout troop to Pictograph Caves State Park for the weekend where we did some trail work for them.  Here's the catch, we rode our bicycles to the camp site Friday night and then pedaled the rest of the way into the park the next morning.  I had 8 boys with me for the adventure.  We pedaled out 12 miles to the camp site Friday night.

8 scouts, two leaders, and another rider we picked up on the way.

Riding through downtown.  One of the bikes broke down and that boy had to ride in the truck to the top of the hill.  He was pretty bummed out.  We let him coast down the backside.

The top is at the antennas off in the distance.

Nice helmet hair!

Tour of the caves

Service project.  We hauled the brush out of the park by wheelbarrow...

...by hand...

...a by rake.

Others swept the parking lot.

All done.

Time to head back home.  Up the hill and back down the other side.
