Sydney's birthday party was last Saturday. Sarah did an awesome job putting it all together. I couldn't handle all those little girls (and one boy) by myself let alone find fun things for them to do. We started the party off with a game in the back yard. Sarah tied balloons to the girl's ankles and had them run around the yard trying to pop each other's balloons. The last one standing won a prize. The hardest part was keeping the balloons from flying away before we tied them on and keeping them from popping before the game started. We had to blow up second and third balloons for at least half of the kids before the game started.
We then took them in the house for a game of bean-bag-toss. I built a Frankenstein bean-bag-toss several years ago for Sydney's party and its one of their favorite things. We've used it at every one of Sydney's parties and a few Halloween parties since. While half of the kids were playing bean-bag-toss, Sarah had the other half in the kitchen decorating Halloween sugar cookies while drinking strawberry 7-up punch. Sugared-up kids! Fun! (When are their parents coming back?)

All of the kids had stained mouths from candy, cookies, and punch.

And if the cookies, candy, and punch weren't enough, we topped it off with a birthday cake and ice cream. Sarah made the cake in the shape of a guitar, Sydney's request. It turned out really well.

After the cake and ice cream, we moved into the living room to open up presents, Sydney's favorite part. She got a lot of nice gifts and was really excited to play with the toys all weekend.

Finally the party ended and Sarah and I were both dead tired, but no rest for us. It was stake conference weekend as well so I had to run off to meetings afterwords while Sarah cleaned up after the party and then joined me for the adult session that night. It was a very busy day but the girls had a great time and luckily Evie slept through most of the chaos allowing us to focus on the party.

It looks like you had a wonderful party, Sydney! I love your cake. Do you like being seven years old?
