Grand Teton National Park

Russ had another "Uncomon Sense" weekend, so we decided to turn it into a family vacation. We went to Grand Teton National Park and stayed in the Jackson Lake Lodge. Russ had classes all day, but the girls and I went for hikes, played in the lake, and had a marvelous time in one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Every now and then Russ got to join us in a small adventure.

There were wildfires all over, which made me nostalgic. I really loved fighting fires back in the day! The smoke created gorgeous sunsets.
We went for a Syd & Tara -sized hike around part of the lake. Russ and his coworker Brad joined us for this one. It was incredibly breathtaking scenery.
Sydney and Tara especially enjoyed throwing things into the lake.
The girls and I spent an afternoon on the lake shore. They ended up soaked, muddy, and cold, but had SO much fun!

On the last day, We went on a few field trips with Russ and his group. It was interesting, and we even saw a black bear with a cub. No picture of that one! But it was an amazing sight. The last two pictures are on a preserve. Very pretty waterfall. We all got a little wet. :)

Due to wildfires burning in Yellowstone, we were unable to return home through the park. So we ended up driving through Jackson Hole, over to Ashton, and back to Billings through West Yellowstone. It was definitely the long way around, but it was a gorgeous drive.
